About

Doreen was founder/CEO of Mogavero, Lee & Co., Inc., the first and only floor based, direct access firm to be wholly owned and operated by women. Throughout her career Doreen has been an integral part of the Wall Street community. She began in 1975 as the clerk on the American Stock Exchange, working for her father at Tucker Anthony R.L. Day Inc. and then spending a 1/3 of her career working for Ivan F. Boesky and Co. First as a clerk on the American stock Exchange, then a member of the NY Futures Exchange in 1979 and then in 1980 went on to become the 12th women in history to become a member of the prestigious New York Stock Exchange. Ms. Mogavero bought her seat in 1994 and was the second woman to buy her seat on the Exchange with funds earned working on the trading floor.

Her list of “firsts” are many. Doreen and her husband were the first married members of the NYSE as well as the first married Floor Officials to serve in the self-policing hierarchy on the trading floor. Most notably, she was the first female member from the New York Stock Exchange trading floor to be appointed to a board position in 2003 as a member of the Board of Executives. In doing so, she became the first woman to Chair the powerful Market Performance Committee of the NYSE. During her time on the board, Doreen served as one of only two floor members appointed to the Regulation, Enforcement and Listing Standard Committee and as a board member of the NYSE Foundation. Throughout her career on “the floor” she served in many capacities; 25 years on the NYSE Hearing Panel, representative of the NYSE to the Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation to renovate and preserve the Statue of Liberty – a national foundation chaired by Lee Iacocca, the NYSE Technology Planning and Oversight Committee, Vice President of the Organization of Independent Floor Brokers, Treasurer and Trustee of the Floor Members Emergency Fund and served in a regulatory capacity for 12 years as a Floor Official and finally, as a member of the Board of Executives and  Executive Floor Official before leaving the floor in 2016.

Her industry and community commitment reach has extended far beyond the walls of 11 Wall Street as she has participated on committees for the Security Traders Association Trading Issues Committee, the Financial Women’s Organization, and 100 Women in Hedge Funds. She was honored by the Young Entrepreneurs Organization with a lifetime membership for her ground-breaking founding of a women’s firm on the exchange and has worked with high school and college students on financial literacy for over 40 years. This work culminated in Doreen developing an internship program at the NYSE designed to exposed high school students to the many facets of business and financial services, as well as aspects of personal finance. Her work in financial literacy for students was recognized in 2009 by Wright State University resulting in an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. Today, Doreen is one of the women featured on the wall of tribute to the women of the New York Stock Exchange, in the recently constructed Muriel Seibert Room at the Exchange. This room was built to honor and remind us of the many accomplishments of Muriel Seibert, the first woman to own a seat on the exchange, and the women that followed. Their contributions greatly enhanced the structure of our financial markets and the industry at large. Doreen has also been honored for her work with our veterans by the Wounded Warriors.

Doreen has appeared as a guest commentator on CNBC, and Bloomberg TV as well as a regular on the Fox Business Network. She has also made brief appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey shows.  Doreen has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, LA Times, CBS TV and Radio, Forbes, BBC International Commentator, and Bloomberg Financial News. She has been on the cover of Forbes Women’s Enterprise Magazine. Doreen continues to contribute by speaking and participating in panel discussions whenever called upon.

She continues to serve on the Advisory Board of Sloan Women’s Hospital at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and has recently been appointed to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) – Industry Security Exam Committee and the Series 57 committee..
